Monastero di Claro

The route starts at Bellinzona railway station and continues away from the busy roads to the flat countryside of the Riviera and the village of Claro.

From here the road climbs in hairpin bends in the shade of a dense chestnut wood until it reaches the impressive Monastery of S.ta Maria Assunta, where the nuns still lead their monastic life.

The view from here over the Riviera and the mountain range is spectacular! After a full load of energy up here, you can enjoy the descent to the plain.
